Catalyst for Flexitec 2020 Resin & Primer
Flexitec Powder Hardener is the essential curing agent used with Flexitec 2020 Resin and Flexitec Primer. It controls cure speed and working time, ensuring the Flexitec system performs consistently across a wide range of site conditions.
Correct use of the powder hardener is critical, it’s what allows the resin and primer to cure properly and achieve their designed performance.
How It’s Used on Site
The powder hardener is added after decanting Flexitec resin or primer and must be thoroughly mixed until fully dispersed.
Hardener levels are adjusted to suit the deck temperature, giving controlled pot life and predictable curing.
- Minimum addition: 2%
- Maximum addition: 4%
Using less than 2% or more than 4% is not recommended, regardless of conditions.
Powder hardener ratios are displayed on the Flexitec 2020 Resin and Primer tins and also in the application manual.
Recommended Addition Rates
Typical guidance for Flexitec Resin and Primer:
- 5–10°C: 4% (4 scoops per litre)*
- 11–17°C: 3% (3 scoops per litre)
- 18–30°C: 2% (2 scoops per litre)
* In cold conditions, winter accelerators should be used alongside correct hardener levels, in accordance with the application manual.
Always carry out a test mix in prevailing conditions to confirm working time before starting application.

A Roofer’s Take
The powder hardener might be the smallest part of the Flexitec system, but it’s one of the most important. Accurate dosing gives predictable cure times, proper consolidation, and a finished membrane that performs exactly as intended.
Get the hardener right, and the rest of the system falls into place.
