Cold Weather Accelerator for Flexitec Primer (Down to 1°C)
Flexitec Winter Primer Accelerator is a cold-weather additive designed to support curing of Flexitec Primer in low temperature conditions.
Used correctly, it allows Flexitec Primer to be applied on surfaces as low as 1°C, helping maintain workable cure times when conditions fall below the standard 5°C minimum.
What It’s Used For
- Winter installations
- Early morning cold deck temperatures
- Projects where surface temperature is between 1°C and 5°C
- Maintaining predictable primer cure in cold weather
Important:
This product is used in addition to Flexitec Powder Hardener - it does not replace it.
Why It Matters
In cold conditions, primer cure slows significantly. Without proper curing, the resin layer applied above may suffer adhesion issues.
Flexitec Winter Primer Accelerator:
- Speeds up primer cure at low temperatures
- Restores normal working times in cold weather
- Helps ensure proper adhesion of the Flexitec system
- Enables application down to 1°C (surface temperature)
It’s a controlled way to keep the job moving during late autumn and winter installations.
How It’s Used
- Stir Flexitec Primer thoroughly.
- Add 1 x 400g Winter Primer Accelerator pack to 5kg Flexitec Primer.
- Mix thoroughly in the original container.
- Add Powder Hardener at the correct scoop rate for the temperature.
Critical:
Accelerator must be fully mixed into the primer before adding Powder Hardener.
Accelerator and Powder Hardener must never come into direct contact.
Temperature Guidance
- Surface temperature range: 1°C – 10°C
- Without accelerator: do not apply Flexitec Primer below 5°C
- Resin and primer should ideally be stored between 5°C – 10°C prior to use
Always refer to the full Flexitec Application Manual for complete guidance.
Important Notes
- Not a replacement for Powder Hardener
- Do not use above recommended temperature range
- Do not mix accelerated and non-accelerated material side by side where colour consistency is critical
- Store away from Powder Hardener and organic peroxides
Roofer’s Perspective
If you’re pushing jobs into colder months, this gives you control. Used properly, it brings cure times back into a workable window so you’re not waiting around for primer to kick in low temperatures.
