Infrared Surface Thermometer for Accurate Catalyst Control
This deck temperature laser thermometer is an essential tool for GRP roofing installations. It allows you to quickly measure the actual surface temperature of the deck before applying resin.
In fibreglass systems such as GRP Roof and Flexitec, catalyst and hardener ratios are determined by temperature. Ambient air temperature is often misleading - the deck surface can be significantly warmer or colder depending on sunlight, wind and time of day.
Using a laser thermometer ensures you mix resin accurately and avoid under or over-catalysing.
What It’s Used For ▸
- Measuring deck temperature prior to GRP application
- Determining correct catalyst or hardener percentage
- Confirming working conditions in cold or hot weather
Ideal for use with GRP, Flexitec and other resin-based roofing systems.
Why It Matters ▸
Incorrect catalyst ratios can lead to:
- Resin curing too quickly
- Resin remaining soft or tacky
- Reduced laminate performance
- Wasted materials
A surface temperature reading allows you to refer directly to your system’s catalyst chart and mix accurately for the conditions on site.
It’s a simple step that prevents costly mistakes.
How It Works ▸
- Point the laser at the deck surface
- Push the button
- Read the temperature instantly
No contact is required, making it safe and fast to use across large roof areas.
Technical Specification ▸
Temperature Range: -9°C to +199°C
Resolution: 0.1°C
Power Supply: 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries
Battery Life: Approx. 20 hours
Type: Non-contact infrared thermometer
Roofer’s Perspective ▸
Air temperature means nothing if the deck’s been sitting in sun or frost. A quick surface check before you mix resin takes seconds and saves a lot of problems later.
