Fibreglass Tissue for Smoother GRP Detailing & Reduced Print-Through
GRP Finishing Tissue is a lightweight fibreglass bandage used to refine visible detail areas in fibreglass roofing systems.
Unlike standard chopped strand mat (CSM), finishing tissue is much thinner and designed to soften reinforced areas such as trim joints, corners, overlaps and penetrations - reducing visible texture and creating a smoother final appearance.
Supplied 150mm wide and sold per metre.
What It’s Used For ▸
- Softening visible trim joints
- Tidying up reinforced corners
- Refining pipe and outlet detailing
- Reducing print-through from CSM
Used during the resin stage to create a neater surface prior to final cure.
Why It Matters ▸
Standard GRP matting leaves a textured finish. In high-visibility areas such as corners and trim overlaps, this texture can remain noticeable even after top coating.
Finishing tissue:
- Reduces print-through from heavier mat
- Blends reinforced areas into surrounding laminate
- Creates a smoother, more uniform appearance
- Elevates the overall finish of the roof
It’s not structural reinforcement - it’s about presentation and refinement.
Installation Overview ▸
- Cut tissue to required length.
- Apply catalysed resin to the detail area.
- Lay finishing tissue into wet resin.
- Wet out fully and consolidate lightly.
- Ensure no dry fibres remain.
- Allow to cure before overcoating where required.
As referenced in the Flexitec manual, finishing tissue is used to form neat finishes on trim corners, overlaps and detailing.

If you want trim joints to disappear rather than stand out, finishing tissue makes the difference. It softens the detail and gives the roof a cleaner, more professional look once coated.
