Polyurethane Insulation Adhesive for Warm Roof Systems
Insta Stik 750ml Roofing Adhesive is a polyurethane foam adhesive designed for bonding rigid insulation boards in flat roof constructions.
It is commonly used to adhere PIR and other insulation boards directly to the structural deck or to a primed vapour barrier in a warm roof build-up. This makes it ideal where mechanical fixing is not suitable or not permitted under specification.
Supplied in a portable 750ml can, it provides a fast, clean alternative to hot bitumen or liquid adhesives - with no naked flame required.
What It’s Used For ▸
- Bonding PIR insulation boards in warm roof systems
- Adhering insulation to vapour barriers
- Fixing insulation to concrete, plywood, OSB, metal decks, asphalt and bitumen felt
- Smaller commercial and residential roofing projects
Often specified where:
- Mechanical fixing must be avoided
- Thermal performance targets need to be maintained
- System manufacturer guidance requires adhesive fixing
Not recommended where significant wind uplift risk is present unless the roof design and perimeter detailing are suitable. In many cases, mechanical fixing provides greater security.
Why It Matters ▸
In certain warm roof designs, penetrating the vapour barrier with mechanical fixings is not desirable. Adhesive fixing avoids unnecessary penetrations and can help maintain airtightness and thermal performance.
Insta Stik provides:
- Strong bond to a wide range of substrates
- Controlled bead application
- Fast cure (typically 20–30 minutes)
- Coverage up to 14m² per can (based on 19–25mm beads at 300mm centres)
- No hot works
It offers a practical solution when specified correctly within the roof design.
Installation Overview ▸
- Ensure the substrate is clean and dry.
- Shake can well and use with a compatible PU foam gun.
- Apply in 19–25mm beads at 300mm centres (150mm at perimeters)
- Position insulation boards within 10 minutes.
- Boards typically achieve firm adhesion within 20–30 minutes
Boards should be walked in during initial cure at regular intervals to ensure full contact.

Roofer’s Perspective ▸
When mechanical fixing isn’t an option, this gives you a clean, controllable way to bond insulation down. It goes on quickly, cures fast and keeps the build-up moving without hot works. In most cases, I prefer a mechanical fix, but some applications do specify adhesive.
