Plastisol Coated Steel Roof Edge Trim – Kerb or Drip Application
Our Universal Metal Edge Trim is a durable, plastisol-coated steel trim designed to finish and secure EPDM rubber roofing membranes at the roof perimeter.
Unlike many trims that are limited to one application, this universal metal trim can be used as:
- A kerb edge trim (to prevent water run-off, directing it towards the gutter), or
- A drip edge trim (to allow water to flow cleanly into the gutter).
This flexibility makes it a practical, cost-effective solution for sheds, extensions, garden rooms and flat roofs.
Designed for EPDM Rubber Roofing Systems ▸
This metal edge trim is specifically suited for:
- EPDM rubber roofing membranes
- New build roofs
- Flat roof refurbishments
- Residential and light commercial projects
Manufactured from steel with a high-quality black plastisol coating, it offers excellent resistance to corrosion and long-term outdoor exposure.
Two Installation Options ▸
1️⃣ As a Kerb Edge Trim
To use as a kerb trim:
- Install a 25x50mm (2x1″) timber batten onto the roof deck edge
- Install the EPDM membrane over the batten
- Fix the metal trim top down over the membrane, clamping it securely in place
This creates a raised edge that prevents water running off that side of the roof.
2️⃣ As a Drip Edge Trim
To use as a drip trim:
- Fix the timber batten directly to the vertical fascia edge - This ensures the trim protrudes slightly ensuring water flows centrally into the gutter
- Install the EPDM membrane
- Install the trim over the membrane so water can flow cleanly into the gutter
This method allows the membrane and trim to form a clean drip edge.
Strong, Simple Installation ▸
Each trim is:
- Easy to cut using tin snips or a metal saw
- Supplied with 40mm self-sealing hex fasteners
- Quick to install for both trade and DIY
Available drop heights:
- 75mm
- 100mm
- 150mm
Top edge: 40mm
Drip hang: 10mm
Colour: Black (Plastisol coated exterior)
Why Choose Metal Edge Trim Over Timber? ▸
Timber battens alone:
- Can split over time
- Offer no weather protection
- Provide a less finished appearance
Metal edge trims:
- Provide consistent compression along the membrane edge
- Deliver a professional finish
- Improve long-term durability
- Look cleaner and more modern
A Roofer’s Perspective ▸
Roof perimeters are where failure usually begins.
A proper metal edge trim gives the membrane consistent mechanical compression and creates a defined, durable roof edge. Whether used as a kerb or drip, it’s a practical solution that performs better than exposed timber detailing alone.
