Secure Fixing Trim for EPDM Rubber Roofing Membranes

This metal edge trim for EPDM provides a clean, professional mechanical fixing solution for rubber roofing membranes at their most vulnerable point - the roof perimeter.

Designed to secure the membrane firmly in place, the trim protects against water ingress at the edges while preventing wind uplift by mechanically anchoring the EPDM sheet.

Why Edge Trims are Essential for Shed Roofs

Without shed trims, the edges of your rubber roof are exposed to the elements, leaving your roof vulnerable to:

  • Membrane peeling and edge failure
  • Wind uplift in harsh conditions
  • Water tracking beneath the membrane
Why choose Metal Edge Trims over Timber Battens?

Our metal shed edge trims provide a modern, durable alternative to timber battens for perimeter fixing. They do the same job, but with superior durability and finish quality:

  • Made from durable plastisol coated steel for long-term outdoor use.
  • Won't split or crack under pressure during installation.
  • Quick and simple installation.
  • A cleaner, professional-looking finish.
Installation Overview
  1. Peel off the protective white plastic coating.
  2. Cut trims to size required using a hacksaw or tin snips.
  3. Hold edge trim in position along the edge it will be fixed to.
  4. Drill pilot holes at equal spacing along the length through the trim and into the timber fascia.
  5. Secure trim to the edge of the roof, clamping the EPDM membrane in place - Ensure adequate compression of EPDM washer.
  6. Trim excess membrane

For edges in excess of 2m, overlap trims by 50mm minimum. Each 2m trim is supplied with 3x 40mm hex fasteners.

Roofer’s Perspective

In my experience, the roof perimeter is where most problems start - wind uplift, edge peeling, and water tracking beneath the membrane. That’s why I always recommend metal edge trims for EPDM shed roofs and garden buildings. They provide consistent compression along the edge, protect against the elements, and create a neat, finished look that timber simply can’t match long term. If you want your rubber roof to perform properly and look the part, edge trim isn’t an extra - it’s essential.
