This metal wall trim for EPDM rubber roofing is designed to form a watertight junction where a flat roof meets a brick, block or rendered wall. It provides a clean, secure alternative to traditional lead flashing, without the cost or complexity.
Used by professional roofers and competent DIY installers, this plastisol-coated steel wall trim slots into a chase cut into the masonry and mechanically fixes the EPDM membrane in place. When sealed correctly with black mastic, it creates a durable termination detail that protects the roof edge from water ingress.
Available in 25mm x 90mm (Standard) and 40mm x 90mm (Deep) profiles.

Use the Standard (25mm x 90mm) trim when:
- The EPDM membrane can be adhered directly to the wall substrate
Use the Deep (40mm x 90mm) trim when:
- The membrane cannot be bonded directly to the wall
- Installing onto stone walls
- Bitumen residue is present (EPDM should not be bonded directly to bitumen)
A 15mm timber board should be fixed along the wall edge before the EPDM membrane, to create a suitable bonding surface.
Why It Matters ▸
Roof-to-wall junctions are one of the most common failure points on a flat roof. Without a properly secured termination, wind uplift can pull the membrane away from the wall, and water can track behind the system.
This EPDM wall trim provides:
- Mechanical restraint at the membrane’s top edge
- A defined termination point
- Protection against water ingress when sealed with mastic
Unlike lead flashing, it requires no dressing or specialist lead work. It delivers a consistent, repeatable detail across multiple installations.
Installation Overview ▸
- Adhere the EPDM membrane up the wall, minimum 150mm above roof deck level.
- Cut a horizontal chase into the masonry using an angle grinder.
- Seal exposed membrane edges at either end of the wall using uncured flashing tape and EPDM primer.
- Slot the wall trim into the chase.
- Drill pilot holes through trim and masonry.
- Insert wall plugs.
- Fix using the screws provided.
- Apply black mastic along the chase line to seal.
Where bonding directly to the wall is not possible, fix a 15mm timber board to the wall first. The 40mm deep trim allows for this additional build-up.
