Rubber Roofing Primer for Flashing, Tapes & Accessories

ClassicBond EPDM Primer is a one-step cleaner and primer used to prepare EPDM rubber roofing membranes before applying pressure-sensitive tapes and accessories.

It is essential for achieving strong, long-lasting adhesion when installing:

Without primer, tapes and flashing will not bond correctly to the membrane.

What This EPDM Primer Does

ClassicBond EPDM Primer:

  • Cleans the membrane surface
  • Prepares EPDM for pressure-sensitive products
  • Improves tape and flashing adhesion
  • Promotes strong seam performance
  • Reduces the risk of splice failure

It is designed specifically for use with ClassicBond EPDM systems and pressure-sensitive accessories.

Important: What This Primer Is NOT For

This primer:

  • Must not be used to bond membrane to membrane without splice tape
  • Is not a deck adhesive
  • Should not be thinned

It is used only as part of a correct EPDM seam or flashing detail.

How It’s Applied (Simple Overview)
  1. Remove dirt and debris from the membrane surface
  2. Stir primer thoroughly (minimum 5 minutes recommended)
  3. Apply a thin, even coat to the membrane only
  4. Avoid puddles or excessive application
  5. Allow to dry until it does not transfer to a dry finger touch
  6. Install splice tape or flashing immediately after flashing off

Using more primer than required does not improve adhesion - full, even coverage is what matters.

Approximate coverage:

  • Up to 47.5 linear metres at 100mm width per 1 litre
