Pressure-Sensitive Uncured EPDM Tape for Complex Roof Details - Sold per Linear Metre

ClassicBond 9″ Elastoform Tape (PS 228mm Uncured Flashing Tape) is a pressure-sensitive, uncured EPDM flashing tape designed for forming watertight details around complex shapes and roof penetrations.

Unlike cured EPDM tapes, Elastoform is malleable and self-curing, allowing it to stretch and adapt to irregular profiles, corners and outlets without creasing or stressing the membrane.

This makes it the correct solution for critical detailing on EPDM rubber roofing systems.

What 9″ Elastoform Is Used For

ClassicBond 9″ Uncured EPDM Flashing is ideal for:

  • External corners
  • Internal corners
  • Pipe penetrations
  • Drain outlets (internal and horizontal)
  • Skylight upstand corners
  • Awkward or irregular detailing
  • Forming custom pipe boots

Anywhere the membrane needs to stretch and form - uncured EPDM is required.

Why Uncured EPDM Flashing Is Different

Because the membrane is uncured:

  • It stretches up to 480% elongation
  • Moulds easily to irregular shapes
  • Self-cures after installation
  • Reduces stress points at corners

This makes it far superior to trying to fold cured EPDM around complex details.

Installation Overview (Best Practice)
  1. Ensure the membrane surface is clean and free from contamination
  2. Apply ClassicBond EPDM Primer using a scrubbing pad
  3. Allow primer to flash off (no transfer to dry finger)
  4. Position the flashing and apply firm, even hand pressure
  5. Immediately roll with a 50mm roller, rolling across the edge

⚠️ Primer is required for correct adhesion. Lap Sealant should be used as a secondary seal to exposed edges of uncured tape.

In colder conditions (below 5°C), gentle heat may be required during application.

When to Use 9″ vs 12″ Elastoform

9″ Elastoform is suitable for most:

  • Standard upstands
  • Pipe penetrations
  • Drain details
  • Skylights

For higher upstands or larger detailing areas, 12″ Elastoform may be more appropriate.

A Roofer’s Perspective

Uncured flashing is what makes EPDM detailing work properly.

Trying to form corners, pipes or drains with cured membrane alone leads to stress points and failure. Elastoform stretches, beds in cleanly and cures into the detail, making it one of the most important products in the EPDM system.
