Deck Primer for Elotene Self-Adhesive Vapour Barrier
InStar (RedStar) Primer is a rapid-drying primer designed for use with Elotene DSN self-adhesive vapour barrier membranes. It prepares porous and difficult substrates to ensure strong initial grab and long-term adhesion of the membrane.
Used on concrete, plywood, OSB and other porous decks, this primer improves bond performance - particularly in cooler conditions where adhesion can otherwise be reduced.
A simple but essential part of the Elotene warm roof system.
What It’s Used For ▸
- Priming concrete decks before installing Elotene DSN
- Preparing plywood and OSB substrates
- Improving adhesion on porous surfaces
- Supporting installation at lower application temperatures
Not required on clean, new metal decks in some cases, but recommended where maximum adhesion is needed.
Application Overview ▸
- Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from dust or oil.
- Apply a thin, even coat using a roller.
- Avoid puddling.
- Allow to dry (typically 40–90 minutes depending on conditions).
The primer will remain slightly tacky when ready for membrane installation.
