Partially Self-Adhesive Resitrix EPDM for Overlay & Refurbishment Projects

Resitrix SKP (Partial Bond) is a glass-reinforced, heat-weldable EPDM waterproofing membrane with a partially self-adhesive backing. Unlike Resitrix SKW Full Bond, which is fully coated in modified bitumen adhesive, SKP features a grid-pattern self-adhesive backing, allowing the membrane to bond in a controlled, partial manner.

This backing layout lets any trapped moisture or air move and balance out under the sheet. That makes it ideal for overlay jobs and refurb work where the existing deck might still hold a bit of moisture or where there’s slight movement in the substrate.

A trade-focused solution for experienced Resitrix installers.

What It’s Used For
  • Overlaying existing flat roofs (including compatible bituminous substrates)
  • Refurbishment projects with residual moisture risk
  • New insulation boards prone to slight movement or gassing-off
  • Substrates where full surface bonding may increase blister risk

Not a mechanically fixed system.
Installed partially self-adhesive onto a fully primed substrate.

Why It Matters

On refurb jobs, fully bonded membranes can lock moisture into the deck. If there’s any damp left in the old roof, or the insulation moves slightly, that pressure has nowhere to go - and that’s when blisters can start forming.

Resitrix SKP helps manage that risk.

Because the adhesive is laid in a grid pattern, the sheet isn’t bonded solid across the whole deck. That allows any trapped air or moisture to balance out underneath, while still holding the membrane firmly in place.

You still get:

  • Fully heat-welded seams
  • Strong adhesion to the primed deck
  • Compatibility with existing bitumen roofs

It gives you the security of Resitrix, but with a bit more forgiveness on tricky refurbishment substrates.

Installation Overview
  • Substrate must be clean, dry and suitably prepared.
  • Prime the deck with FG35 surface primer and allow to dry fully.
  • Align rolls with minimum 50mm laps (80mm over EPS) as per system guidance.
  • Remove release film and lay into position.
  • Heat weld all seams to form a continuous waterproof layer.

Although the adhesive backing is applied in a grid format, installation guidance permits partial self-adhesive installation onto full-surface primer. In practice, full deck priming ensures consistent adhesion and efficient installation.

Roofer’s Perspective

On refurb jobs, SKP gives you more breathing room. If you’re overlaying old felt or new insulation that hasn’t fully settled, partial bond reduces the risk of trapping vapour while still giving you welded seams and a solid system.
