Low Temperature Accelerator for GRP Roof 1010 Base Coat
GRPROOF 1010 Base Resin Accelerator is a cold-weather additive designed to support curing of the Restec GRPROOF 1010 Base Coat Resin in low temperatures.
Used in conjunction with GRPROOF liquid catalyst, this accelerator allows installation of the GRPROOF fibreglass roofing system in temperatures down to 1°C, helping maintain workable curing times when conditions fall below the standard 5°C minimum.
What It’s Used For ▸
- Low temperature GRP roof installations
- Winter working conditions
- Early morning installs where deck temperature is borderline
- Supporting consistent cure speed in cold weather
Important:
The accelerator is used in addition to catalyst - it does not replace it.
Why It Matters ▸
Polyester resins slow down significantly in colder conditions. Without support, cure times can become extended or unreliable.
GRPROOF Base Resin Accelerator:
- Speeds up cure in cold weather
- Restores workable pot life at lower temperatures
- Helps ensure full cure when working close to minimum temperature limits
- Allows application down to 1°C when used correctly
It ensures the Base Coat laminate cures properly before top coating, even in challenging conditions.
How It’s Used ▸
- Add accelerator to Base Resin first
- Mix thoroughly
- Then add liquid catalyst at the correct percentage
Accelerator and catalyst must never come into direct contact.
Typical usage:
- 20kg Base Resin: 1 full accelerator pack (500ml)
- 10kg Base Resin: Half pack
Always refer to the official GRPROOF 1010 manual for correct catalyst levels and temperature guidance.
