Low Temperature Accelerator for GRP 1010 Top Coat

GRPROOF 1010 Top Coat Accelerator is a cold-weather additive designed to support curing of the Restec GRPROOF 1010 Top Coat in low temperatures.

Used alongside liquid catalyst, this accelerator allows the Top Coat to cure reliably in temperatures down to 1°C, helping maintain workable curing times when conditions fall below the standard 5°C minimum.

What It’s Used For
  • Cold weather GRP installations
  • Winter roofing projects
  • Maintaining cure speed in low temperatures
  • Ensuring proper Top Coat cure before exposure

Important:
The accelerator is used in addition to liquid catalyst - it does not replace catalyst.

Why It Matters

Top Coat performance depends on correct curing. In colder conditions, cure times slow significantly, increasing risk of delayed hardening or surface issues.

GRPROOF Top Coat Accelerator:

  • Speeds up curing in low temperatures
  • Helps maintain predictable pot life
  • Supports full cure when working close to minimum temperature limits
  • Enables application down to 1°C when used correctly

It ensures the UV-protective Top Coat hardens properly over the reinforced base laminate.

How It’s Used
  • Add accelerator to the Top Coat resin first
  • Mix thoroughly
  • Then add liquid catalyst at the correct percentage

Accelerator and catalyst must never come into direct contact.

Typical usage:

  • 20kg Top Coat: 1 full accelerator pack (250ml)
  • 10kg Top Coat: Half pack

Always refer to the GRPROOF 1010 manual for catalyst ratios and temperature guidance.

Technical Summary

Compatibility: GRPROOF 1010 Top Coat only
Purpose: Low temperature cure support
Minimum Application Temperature (with accelerator): 1°C
Used With: Liquid Catalyst (required separately)

Roofer’s Perspective

If you’re finishing a roof late season, this helps the Top Coat kick properly when temperatures drop. Used correctly, it keeps cure times manageable so you can complete the system without delay.
